CLEVENGER ASSEMBLY

FOR DETERMINATION OF VOLATILE OIL LIGHTER THAN WATER

Details

The Clevenger Apparatus conducts the distillation process by heating then boiling, condensing and decantation is basically used to separate the oil. The Apparatus used for Clevenger comes in several different sizes to suite the size of the organic material which is being distilled. The apparatus is basically consists of three main parts; A round bottom flask in which material is placed for containing volatile solution plus a given quantity of water. Secondly; a separator is been attached which automatically separates the distilled solution in a graduated tube. Thirdly, a condenser is there which makes whole process more convenient. The volatile oil is carried out over with a steam and condenses with it. Because this is only, slightly soluble in water. It basically separates the aqueous portion of the distillate in layers.

The Clevenger appears like a glass double boiler with several valves to increase the temperature or release the steam to lower the temperature; this has been the main method of flavor extraction. The Clevenger apparatus equipment ranges in cost depending upon the size of tool needed. The Clevenger Apparatus equipment ranges in cost depending upon the size of the tool needed.
